Because You're Not Alone

Grief support group meetingYou don't have to go through this alone. No one knows exactly what you're feeling, and no one can make your grief go away. Grief belongs to you alone, but that doesn't mean you have to go through it alone. You've likely heard there are normal stages of grieving, and that's true. For many, it helps to walk through those stages with an experienced guide, or others dealing with loss, or resources to light the way.

Fremont Regional Hospice offers a number of special grief support programs and resources to encourage families who have lost a loved one in our care. These programs are also typically open to the community as well.


Grief Support: A Bridge to Healing

Commemorative Celebrations
At Fremont Regional Hospice, commemoration is rooted in our culture. We know how important it is for family and friends to have opportunities to remember their loved one and even reconnect with our staff members. Each year we conduct a memorial service with family members to celebrate the lives of their loved one.

Grief in the Workplace
In many ways, the loss of a co-worker may affect an entire workplace. Fremont Regional Hospice counselors are available for consultation and support when needed.

Grief and Loss Education Presentations for the Community
Single session grief education presentations are available by request. Community organizations may schedule a presentation or get additional information to address their specific needs. Please call (719) 275-4315 and ask to speak with a Grief Counselor.

Referrals to Other Resources, Services and Expertise
Referrals can be arranged for individuals with needs beyond the scope of Fremont Regional Hospice for grief and loss.

Grief Support Groups
Grief support groups are led by professional grief counselors and volunteers. Formats include structured groups that may meet weekly or monthly, as well as informal gatherings. Current grief support groups include:

  • The Grief Journey
    This is a 6-part, group program which walks with family members or anyone experiencing grief, be that the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job or any number of life issues causing grief. The Counselor leads the group through the grief process and allows them to learn and grow with the support of the entire group.

  • The Parental Grief Support Program
    This is a 6-part, group program that provides a special focus for parents journeying through the loss of a child.

Letters – Living With Grief
A series of eight letters are mailed to families of Fremont Regional Hospice patients throughout the 13 months following the death of their loved one. The letters offer comforting information and resources, covering a variety of topics related to the grief journey and allow family members to
